Centennial events at Jehovah Lutheran Church will be spread across the 2023-2024 year. You’ve not missed anything!
We are planning five special services throughout this year, beginning on Reformation Sunday, 29 October 2023. Each of these Sundays will highlight events in a 20 year period: 1920s-1930s, 1940s-1950s, and so on. Special dates are listed below. We encourage all past and present members and friends of Jehovah to attend the Sunday divine service on these special days of celebration. Jehovah Lutheran Church was established in 1923 and joined the Missouri Synod (LCMS) in 1924, which makes five special Sundays spread throughout the year very appropriate.
The special dates are:
1) Reformation Sunday 29 October 2023: This is the “kick-off” Sunday. This Sunday will focus on the history of the church in the 1920s and 30s.
2) Transfiguration Sunday on 11 February 2024: This second centennial event looks at the 1940s and 1950s.
3) Pentecost Sunday on 19 May 2024: This third event focuses on Jehovah’s history in the 1960s and 1970s.
4) Rally Sunday on 8 September 2024: This fourth event focuses on Jehovah’s history in the 1980s and 1990s.
5) Reformation Sunday on 27 October 2024: This final centennial event will be a culmination, with focus on the 2000s and into the future.
