Welcoming Afghan Refugees
This summer, we have as our theme at Jehovah “Everything in Jesus,” and we are excited about an opportunity to serve some new neighbors in the name of Jesus. These neighbors are an Afghan refugee family who has moved to St. Paul, fleeing the Taliban regime.
We are working with other LCMS churches in our circuit, and Poblo (a registered service organization of the LCMS, https://www.poblo.org/) to find employment, a vehicle, and essential services for the family.
At this time, all of us at Jehovah have the opportunity to donate clothing and gift cards (e.g., Cub, Target, Aldi) for this family. The gift cards will help purchase groceries, diapers, and other necessities. Bring your gifts to church on Sundays or drop them by the church office.
Pastor Miller and other members of Jehovah are seeking employment opportunities for the father. If you can help or provide a lead, contact Pastor Miller.
Thank you for showing God’s love to these new neighbors through your generous giving.
And whatever you do, in word or deed, do everything in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through Him. (Colossians 3:17 ESV)
